We are serious about design and Millar Road is a true New Zealand design experience. All buildings were designed by Nick Bevin of award-winning architects bevin+slessor. Nick describes the buildings as ‘reminiscent of New Zealand river and lakeside baches (holiday homes) of the 1950’s and 60’s with their relaxed interior layouts and clear, uncomplicated and familiar architecture’. Soon after being built, Millar Road won a New Zealand Institute of Architects local award in the tourism category. 

Most of the furniture is New Zealand designed and built, with key pieces custom‐made by Apartmento. Much of the outdoor furniture is from Bob McDonald. And several key indoor and outdoor pieces were provided by David Moreland Design, one of New Zealand’s leading young designers.

We have always worked closely with the local art community. Currently, the accommodation features a series of stunning portraits by local photographer and good friend Richard Brimer. And we are working on an exciting collaboration with SPA_CE in Napier - more news to follow on this...
